Benefits of Fruits

Ami Davis of Pitkin Florists & Fruit Baskets

The health benefits of fruits guarantee you optimum health and a well-built body in the long run. Fruits benefit your body immensely as they are natural sources of vitamins and minerals, which are essential for the proper functioning of the body. Rich in dietary fiber, fruits also help to improve the functioning of the digestive tract. Fruits are an important part of a healthy diet for those who want to lose weight; they give ample energy and nearly every nutrient that your body needs to curb weight gain, without adding any unnecessary fats.

Fruits in Acne Treatment
Acne is one of the most irritating skin disorders that can affect people of any age. With a good amount of fruit in your diet, you can naturally curb this problem rather than opting for expensive dermatological creams. Acne mostly occurs from skin infections and dermatological issues, but there are other reasons for such eruptions as well. Apples are the best option for treating acne; eat the skin of the apple, which has a high level of pectin that helps with constipation, which can be a trigger for acne. Bananas also helps to alleviate acne, as it is high in fiber that again relieves constipation. Berries have excellent cleansing properties and keep you protected from skin disorders. If you eat grapes during the day, it helps to cleanse your skin and body. While papayas rejuvenate your skin and repair minor damage that you may not even notice, lemon juice slowly eliminates the signs and scars from acne spots.

Fruits for Healthy Hair
Just as fruits enhance the radiance of your skin, they also contribute greatly to healthy, long hair. Vitamin A brings luster to your hair and also softens its texture. If you have fruit on an empty stomach, it will prevent hair loss and premature greying. Citrus fruits are excellent hair stimulants. The vitamin-C content in citrus fruits also prevents hair loss and keeps your hair shiny and healthy. Fruits like kiwis, strawberries and pineapple are also known for aiding hair growth.

Thanksgiving Flowers – A Style For Everyone

November 14th, 2011 | By: Mandy Maxwell
An easy way to take your Thanksgiving decor to the next level is by incorporating harvest-themed flowers. The colors, fragrances, and beauty of the flowers can make any buffet table look like it was composed by Ms. Martha Stewart herself. Let's take a look at the different styles available; try to imagine each of these on your holiday table.

The Cornucopia – Holiday Decor

How gorgeous is this beautiful cornucopia design above? Wouldn't you love it adorning your holiday buffet table, or even as a centerpiece? It's rustic fall leaves mixed with deep red flowers and orange mums are enough to dazzle any Thanksgiving guest.
The cornucopia has an incredibly interesting history itself, dating back long before our current Thanksgiving holiday. The word 'cornucopia' actually dates back to the 5th century BC. It derives from two Latin words: "cornu," meaning horn (as in the name of that one-horned creature, the "unicorn") and "copia," meaning plenty (a relative of such words as "copious" and "copy"). Read all about the history of the cornucopia here.

One Last Expression of Love

                                                                                                One Last Expression of Love

Pitkin Sympathy Florist NY
As florists, we get to be a small part of many of life’s most memorable moments – births, weddings, celebrations, anniversaries, graduations and so many more special occasions… yet it’s often the expressions of love and remembrance during times of loss that touch us most.

Last week, our shop created a flower arrangement for one of the most memorable requests we’ve ever designed.
A customer called asking us to make something really special, really beautiful… and that’s a request we hear daily. It was the circumstance of the order that made it so incredibly memorable.
Her uncle knew he was in his last days of life. Before he died, he requested his family arrange for his beloved wife to receive a large bouquet … the day after he passed from this earth…and that a special letter he’d written her be delivered with the flowers. He wanted to make sure she received one last love note from him.
